New Engineer in TSS
21-02-2025

We’re excited to introduce you to Eduardo Ramirez Gomez! Originally from Guadalajara, Mexico’s second-largest city, Eduardo has recently made the move to Sweden and is settling into life in Göteborg.

One of the things Eduardo is most passionate about from his home country is Mexican food—far beyond just tacos! Mexico has a deep culinary culture with thousands of dishes, ranging from seafood and vegetarian meals to traditional bread and desserts (and yes, even insects!). While he misses the variety of food back home, he’s discovered that Göteborg is a fantastic place for food lovers, offering incredible international cuisine. Thai, Vietnamese, and traditional Swedish restaurants have become some of his favorites. He and his wife share a love for food, always on the lookout for new restaurants and exciting dishes to try.

Since arriving in Sweden at Christmas, Eduardo has been fascinated by how Swedes celebrate the holiday season—with festive decorations, unique traditions, and, of course, lots of vacation days! Another big plus? No more traffic! Having lived in a large city, he truly appreciates Sweden’s well-connected public transportation system and the time it saves. After the initial hurdle of paperwork, he is now free to fully enjoy his new home and explore all that Sweden has to offer.

While he has yet to travel outside Göteborg, Eduardo has been busy exploring the city—visiting its parks, restaurants, and downtown areas. He and his wife also love spending time with their baby, taking him to parks and enjoying walks in different parts of the city. Next on his list? Discovering Sweden’s forests and finding a “smultronställe”—a Swedish word for a hidden gem or special place that locals treasure.

At work, Eduardo is a Senior Test Engineer at Volvo, where he is part of the team responsible for onboarding test equipment for the main computer in cars. His work ensures that complex software behaves as expected before being released in current and future car models. One of the things he appreciates most about Swedish work culture is the empowerment given at all levels—everyone is trusted with responsibility, and the flat hierarchy encourages collaboration. Compared to other work environments he’s experienced, he finds the agile approach and problem-solving mindset at Volvo particularly effective. His goal is to become an expert in his current system and methods and eventually transition into technical leadership, which means deepening his knowledge of agile methodologies.

Eduardo describes his relocation experience with Telescope as smooth and incredibly supportive, with the team constantly checking in to ensure everything went well. His advice to engineers considering a move to Sweden? “We, as engineers, love to calculate everything—I certainly did! But my advice is to take the leap. The experience is really worth it, and in the end, all the pieces fall into place.”

Welcome to Sweden, Eduardo! Wishing you success in your journey ahead!
