🌷Glad Påsk from Sweden! 🌷
Easter in Sweden marks a gentle turning point—from the long, dark winter toward brighter days and blooming landscapes. Påsk is one of those holidays when the country collectively hits pause. While children dress up as little påskkärringar (Easter witches) and families gather around tables filled with festive food, many Swedes head to their countryside cottages or take advantage of the long weekend to step outside and feel the early signs of spring. It’s a perfect moment when the Swedish love of nature, calm, and quality time truly shines.
One of the most iconic sights this time of year is the colorful feathers tied to birch twigs, known as påskris. This tradition dates back to the 19th century, originally meant to help “hasten” the arrival of spring by bringing greenery indoors. Today, these decorated branches can be seen in homes, shops, and city streets all across Sweden—a cheerful reminder that brighter days are just around the corner.
Sweden also stands out in Europe for its relatively high number of public holidays—a reflection of the national mindset that values wellbeing as much as productivity. At Telescope, we often hear from our engineers how refreshing it is to live in a place where time off is respected, not rushed through.
Whether you’re celebrating Easter or simply enjoying the longer days, we hope this season brings a welcome break and a chance to breathe in the beauty of spring. 🐣🌸
