Work-Life Balance Index 2023
08-09-2023

We’re excited to share that Stockholm, a city where we at Telescope love to help engineers find their homes, has ranked 3rd in the Forbes Work-Life Balance Index 2023! The index, which analyzes factors like the World Happiness Index ranking, gender inequality, average working hours, and the availability of remote or hybrid working opportunities, shines a spotlight on cities that excel in worker well-being.

Why Stockholm? The city boasts a strong economy and high standard of living, and it’s home to a vibrant cultural scene with world-class museums and music venues. It also stands out for its commitment to balance – full-time employees enjoy a minimum of 25 days of annual leave.

Flexibility is ingrained in the city’s work culture. Nearly half of all job ads offer hybrid or remote working, allowing professionals to choose where and how they want to work. Plus, Stockholm has an exemplary parental leave policy, granting parents up to 480 days of paid parental leave – each parent is entitled to 240 days!

Notably, Gothenburg, another gem in Sweden, secured the 6th spot, standing out due to its beautiful natural scenery, islands, beaches, and Sweden’s determined focus on employee welfare. In fact, Sweden is the only country with two cities in the top ten of the index!

Sweden offers more than a place to work – it offers a lifestyle where work and personal life can truly coexist. If you’re an engineer looking to experience the benefits of this balance, Telescope is here to help make your transition smoother!
