Our Telescope family is growing stronger with the addition of a new member – Mohamed Awad, coming all the way from Egypt! With a passion for engineering and an insatiable curiosity for science, Mohamed is embarking on an exhilarating adventure in the serene landscapes of Lund.

Mohamed’s drive to join our team stems from his eagerness to contribute to groundbreaking scientific research at The European Spallation Source (ESS), a colossal scientific infrastructure pushing the boundaries of knowledge. Having worked extensively in the engineering domain, Mohamed now finds himself embracing the realm of neutron science alongside brilliant minds.

According to Mohamed, joining a team of diverse talents from around the globe helps amplify creativity, ensuring rich and insightful conversations. As he participates in these discussions, the fusion of unique perspectives promises to spark ingenious ideas that redefine possibilities. In his role as a Control and Automation Engineer, he will undoubtedly be important in propelling ESS towards new frontiers of discovery.

Family means the world to Mohamed, and he’s thrilled to share his Swedish experience with his wife and son, who are eagerly awaiting their arrival in January. The opportunity for his son to receive an exceptional education in a nurturing environment is a prospect Mohamed holds dear to his heart.

Within our Telescope community, Mohamed says he found an incredibly supportive environment, and we’re delighted that he’s settling into his new accommodation seamlessly. As his work hours find more balance, he plans to embrace the active Swedish lifestyle by exploring the biking trails, camping amidst the breathtaking natural landscapes, and unleashing his energy at the gym.
